Prof. Onur ÖZTÜRK
Prof. Onur ÖZTÜRK, M.D., was born in Samsun in 1986 and is the Head of the Family Medicine Department and Head of the Internal Medicine Department at Amasya University Faculty of Medicine.
His specific areas of interest include: Integrative medicine (TCAM), Chronic wound care, Palliative care, Check-ups, Wellness, Sexofunctional therapy, Smoking cessation, Bioresonance, Health management, Medical statistics, Medical education, and Medical journal publishing.
He has 145 publications in national and international academic platforms, 131 of which are in print (22 in SCI), 2 are accepted, and 12 are under review. In addition, he has 116 conference presentations (57 oral presentations, 59 poster presentations), authorship of 19 book chapters, authorship of 1 project, and experience as a reviewer for 344 articles (69 in SCI-SSCI). He served as the founding editor-in-chief of the ‘Samsun Medical Journal’, the official medical journal of Samsun University Faculty of Medicine, and also as the founding editor-in-chief of the ‘Journal of Family Medicine and Health Care’. He has served as an editor in 18 journals and as a reviewer in 112 journals (31 of which are SCI-SSCI). His works have received hundreds of citations. He edited the May 2022 edition of the Türkiye Klinikleri Family Medicine Special Issue. He developed an international medical scoring system using his surname (OTO-COVID-19 scoring model). He has excellent English language skills (YÖK-DİL: 88.75) and basic German language skills. Within the scope of TCAM, he received training in ‘Apitherapy’ in 2018, ‘Ethical Approach to TCAM Clinical Research’ in 2019 and 2023, ‘Larvae (Maggot) Application Training’ in 2019, and ‘Leech Application’ in 2020. He has international publications in the field of TCAM. He served as the head of the ‘GETAT application center’ at Samsun Training and Research Hospital between 2020 and 2025.
During his approximately five years of experience in family health centers, he was awarded the title of ‘Associate Professor’ on August 28, 2019. Also in 2019, he successfully passed the ‘Family Medicine Board Examination,’ the first of its kind in Turkiye, and was awarded the title of ‘Professor’ on March 14, 2025.
