Julia Berschick
Short professional biography:
Julia Berschick studied Sport Science and Media Science, later completing a master’s degree in Motion and Mindfulness. She began her professional career in occupational health management, where she gained extensive experience in developing and implementing strategies to promote employee well-being and sustainable workplace health.
She went on to work with companies, designing and facilitating workshops for leadership teams on mental toughness, mindfulness, and resilience.
Her professional trajectory ultimately led her to the board of the German Federation of University Sports (adh), where she served a two-year term. In this role, she was responsible for advancing the national student health strategy in Germany, leading initiatives to strengthen student well-being across the country. At the same time, she represented the federation internationally, contributing to national and global collaborations and projects aimed at promoting and enhancing student health.
Currently she is a doctoral researcher at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin specializing in health promotion, resilience, and Integrative Medicine. Her work bridges science and practice, with multiple publications advancing the evidence base for mind–body and naturopathic approaches to health.
Her doctorate focused on the development and evaluation of an innovative integrative health promotion program, investigating the health-enhancing potential of a tailored mind–body medicine intervention for healthcare professionals. By addressing the specific needs of this high-risk group, her work contributes to sustainable workforce health and preventive care strategies.
In addition to her research, she plays an active role in academic teaching and interdisciplinary education in mind–body medicine. She is the founder of yESIM, the young division of the European Society of Integrative Medicine (ESIM), fostering international collaboration and a support system for the next generation of researchers in Integrative Medicine.
