"Holistic Medicine in the Century of a Healthy Türkiye"

Due to its strategic location at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, the Anatolian region has been the cradle of many civilizations since prehistoric times. Situated along historic trade routes such as the Silk Road and the Spice Road, it has hosted numerous important centers. These centers witnessed significant exchanges of medical knowledge, the production of healing remedies, and the development of diverse healthcare delivery methods.

Within this context, Anatolia, home to many historical hospitals known as Darüşşifa, stood out as a hub for medical education and treatment. It preserved its identity as a center of medicine where ancient knowledge was cultivated and transmitted. With each civilization that rose in this geography, new dimensions were added to the existing medical heritage.

Traditional medical practices that developed within this historical background—and that have been passed down through both oral and written traditions—have now been integrated into our modern healthcare system on an evidence-based foundation. This has allowed for a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis, follow-up, treatment, and prevention of diseases and patient care, moving beyond the dichotomy of traditional and modern medicine under the vision of “One Medicine.”

Arising from this vision, the holistic medicine approach has enabled the delivery of healthcare services within a unified system that is scientifically grounded, minimizes side effects, and is cost-effective. All these efforts have been supported by the legal frameworks and regulations outlined in the World Health Organization’s strategic plan.

We are pleased to see you among us at this congress, where the integration of Traditional and Complementary Medicine with modern systems and Anatolia's traditional medical heritage will be discussed in the light of scientific evidence.
